Walking with grand-daughters

Tonight my walking was with the grand-daughters. First with EJ, the oldest. She wanted to go walking before it got dark, so I told her to hang on a minute and I'd go with her. She was a little surprised that I wanted to walk with her I think. But we did a mile and had a nice visit (she talked, I listened). When we got back, youngest g-daughter, JE, said she wanted to walk with me, so we did about a half a mile. What fun that was. Although I didn't walk at my usual pace, it was nice to get out with the girls. They are such a wonderful blessing.

Eating today wasn't near what it should be, but that's okay, too. A couple of pieces of pizza and a salad for lunch, grilled cheese with puffcorn and a chocolate covered banana for supper. Plus sunflower seeds during the daky. Had a nice nap today, too. I think I was a little tired from the quick trip to Topeka.

Striking a balance
While losing weight to be healthier is a great thing, it’s important to not get too caught up in a particular number. Marie Claire reminds that starving yourself to get into a bikini and then not having any fun once you get there is not the right way to live. Good Housekeeping’s Geneen Roth says calling whole categories of food good and bad just sets you up for failure, because you’ll inevitably binge on whatever it is you’ve been avoiding. Instead, you need to find out what works for you by really listening to what your body wants (some days it will be chocolate, but other days it will be healthy food, she says).

I'm so glad you got some time with the girls like that! I'm looking forward to when the walks I take with Johnny are more than basically one sided conversations with him dozing off in his wagon part-way through ;)
